From gators to crab legs, sea world to laser world – Orlando’s tourist traps of yesteryear.
Florida has long been a tourist magnet and back in 1981, there was plenty – well, OK, a reasonable amount – of attractions to keep visitors entertained, all of which were advertised in TV Tempo, a somewhat basic hotel television guide that told people what was on offer for potential shut-ins on Orlando’s five TV channels. The short answer to that was ‘not much’ but presumably, no one went on vacation to Florida in order to watch TV anyway.
Here then are a selection of nicely yellowed ads from the August 8 – 14 1981 edition of TV Tempo. Which attraction gets your hard-earned dollars?
