Another unlikely but magnificent musical collision from the king of the mash-up.
We could probably fill endless Reprobate posts with magnificent Bill McClintock mashups but we generally save it for the best – and his latest hits a new level of genius, bringing together Spanish pop-dance veterans Los Del Rio and trying-too-hard Nu Metal leftovers Disturbed for the summer dance track that you didn’t realise you needed.
Stuparena combines the Disturbed track Stupify and Los Del Rio’s unlikely smash hit from (get ready to feel old) 1995, Macarena. One of these bands has more musical credibility than the other – after all, Los Del Rio has been hard at it since 1962. But all that aside, this once again sounds as if these two tracks have always belonged together – the new whole creating something more than the mere parts. This is what pro-tools ought to be restricted to doing. It’s infectiously brilliant and just the thing for these hot summer days.
