Remember the glory day of the monster magazine? Apart from the chance to see photos from the films you’d heard of but never seen, one of the great joys – albeit a frustrating one for British readers like myself reading US publications – was the plethora of advertising pages offering all manner of spooky delights. No matter that most of these turned out to be complete rubbish when bought – the promotional ads made them sound spectacular must-haves.
