A rare interview with the legendary author in his final years.
Henry Miller is one of our favourite writers here at The Reprobate – a man who took porn and made it art, with a series of explicit, challenging and literary novels such as Tropic of Cancer and Quiet Days in Clichy.
This 1979 interview with the then 87-year-old was carried out by actress/model Brenda Venus, with whom Miller was romantically involved at the end of his life. A pair of filmmakers had intended to film Miller talking about wine – an idea that was only partially successful, as an initially bad-tempered Miller went in various directions. The footage was deemed worthy enough to become a stand-alone documentary, though details of its actual release remain sketchy. But it’s well worth a look for admirers of the man, or anyone interested in seeing a great raconteur in full flow.
