David Lynch In Manchester

David Lynch is taking over Manchester this summer – or at least, he’s taking over HOME, the city’s major arts complex. As part of the Manchester International Festival, there will be a series of film screenings, live performances and art displays.

Most exciting is My Head is Disconnected, the first major UK exhibition of Lynch’s paintings, drawings and sculptures across four themes – City on Fire looks at dystopian landscapes and their inhabitants, Nothing Here explores the human psyche, Industrial Empire has drawings covering industry and the environment, and Bedtime Stories brings Lynch’s characters together in their own universe. The exhibition runs from July 6th to September 29th and entry is free.

His musical collaborator Chrysta Bell will present a series of one-off live shows from Lynch-inspired musicians, in what should feel like a real-life version of Twin Peaks‘ Bang Bang Bar, and the cinema will be showing his feature films and shorts, as well as Lynch-approved work from other filmmakers. Also promised are conversations, masterclasses and more.

There’s no word at this time if Lynch will actually be in attendance for any of these events – fingers crossed…
