As of this morning, you can book tickets to see the legendary Diamanda Galas at the Barbican in London. And so you should.
The Reprobate has only seen Galas perform once, when she was collaborating with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, and she was extraordinary – they encored with Communiucation Breakdown, where she managed to do do guitar and vocal parts with her voice, simultaneously. She is, of course, best known for her brutal, challenging and intense avant garde works like Plague Mass and The Litanies of Satan.
Now back with two new albums – All the Way, which sees her tacklng jazz standards, and O Death, which is another explosion of sound and fury, recorded live in 2005 – Galas shows no sign of compromise.
She plays the Barbican on June 17th. Tickets can be bought here.
