One of the more incendiary pulp fiction genres of the 1970s, the ‘slavesploitation’ genre grew out of controversial hits like Drum and Mandingo (not to mention the outrageous Mondo movie Goodbye Uncle Tom) as well as the blaxploitation film, and was essentially a racially-charged, ultra-tasteless version of the ‘bodice-ripper’.
