Pathé has announced a new, as yet untitled film biography of designer Alexander McQueen, due to start shooting in Spring 2017.
Directed by Andrew Haigh, the film will star Jack O’Connell as McQueen and follow the events leading up to his 2009 that was dedicated to his mother.
The screenplay is by Chris Urch, and based on the biography Blood Beneath the Skin by Andrew Wilson.
There isn’t a great track record in impressive fashion biopics (or impressive fashion-themed cinema in general, for that matter). Whether this is the one that will break the mould remains to be seen, but the maverick McQueen should at least be a more interesting subject than most designers.
