As the British government make it harder and harder to access porn online, smut hounds might soon be forced back through the doors of sex shops to buy their adult entertainment on shiny digital discs once more. Perhaps with that in mind, US giants Vivid Entertainment – so far rather under represented in the UK – have announced a DVD distribution deal with Harmony, arguably the biggest and best film producers in Britain. The deal should see Vivid titles available across the UK and Europe… though maybe the latter market might be affected by… well, you know…
Vivid have released some of the best parodies on the market in recent years – their Superhero line is impressive, and Axel Braun’s Star Wars XXX is a remarkable piece of work. They are also the kings of the Celebrity Sex Tape, should that sort of thing float your boat. In operation since the early 1980s, Vivid have a fine catalogue of work behind them – though like most adult labels, they have yet to really capitalise on the growing market for classic XXX movies with special edition reissues (if anyone at the label wants advice on this, I’m available…).
Harmony have expanded from a retail outlet to make some of the better British adult movies, with slick production values and directors who are willing to try something more than standard gonzo porn. The two companies seem a good match.
